Bangkok Airways History

The airline was started in 1968 as Sahakol Air, which was previously operating air-taxi services on contract from the Overseas International Construction Company (OICC), which is basically a construction company based out of US. The company then started scheduled services in 1986 and became the privately owned private airliner in Thailand.

Expansion Plans

Bangkok Airways now has plans to order more wide-bodied aircraft to be added on to its fleet. The company added wide-bodied jets back in 2006 to offer services in the long-hauling routes like London, Japan, and India. Now the plan is to order more Airbus A330, Airbus A340, and Boeing 787 etc.

Flights by Bangkok Airways are highly facilitated and feature rich and the company is having code-share agreements with the major airliners like Air Berlin, Air France, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Etihad Airways, EVA Air, Finnair, Japan Airlines, Lao Airlines, KLM, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Silk Air, Thai Airways International.
